Initial Construction Facts

  • Enough earth was moved to build a wall 10 feet high and 6 feet wide, 2500 miles long.
  • The amount of concrete used would make a motorway 6 inches thick, twenty feet wide and about 800 miles long.
  • The reinforcing steel could have made 3300 cars or a train 30 miles long while the structural steel could have made a train 8 miles long.
  • The lumber cut could have built 15,000 homes.
  • The water lines constructed ran for 52 miles.
  • The blueprints drawn used enough paper to make a strip 24 inches wide stretching 3,000 miles
  • The plant railroad has 63 miles of track and 230 miles of roadway.
